Probate Law

Probate is the legal process by which a person’s assets are distributed after their death. This can include paying debts, distributing property to heirs and settling any disputes. If you are named as an executor in a will or are responsible for administering an estate, it is important to understand the probate process and seek legal assistance if necessary.  We are able to get you through the probate process from start to finish, which includes all three phases.

Family Law

Family law deals with legal issues related to family relationships such as marriage, divorce, child support, and child custody. Family law also includes matters related to estate planning such as wills and trusts.

Civil Law

Mainly in Civil law we deal with disputes between individuals or organizations. It covers a wide range of legal issues such as loan modifications, power of attorney, small claims, evictions (Plaintiff and Defendant). In civil law cases, the goal is to resolve the dispute and provide a remedy for the wronged party.

Power of Attorney

A power of attorney is a legal document that allows you to appoint someone to act on your behalf in financial or healthcare matters.  We offer a power of attorney (POA).  This can be useful if you become incapacitated or are unable to make decisions for yourself. It is important to carefully choose the person you appoint as your agent and to understand the powers and responsibilities that come with a power of attorney.

Loan Modifications

A loan modification is a change made to the terms of an existing loan by a lender in response to a borrower’s long-term inability to repay the loan. Loan modifications can include a reduction in the interest rate, an extension of the loan term or a deferral of a portion of the loan balance. If you are struggling to make your mortgage payments, a loan modification may be an option to help you keep your home.

Small Claims

Small claims court is a special court where individuals can resolve disputes quickly and inexpensively without the need for an attorney. The maximum amount that can be claimed in small claims court varies by state but is typically between $5,000 and $10,000. Common types of small claims cases include disputes over unpaid debts or rent, damage to property and disputes over contracts.

Evictions

An eviction is the legal process by which a landlord removes a tenant from rental property. Landlords must follow specific procedures when evicting a tenant and must have a valid reason for doing so such as non-payment of rent or violation of the lease agreement. If you are facing eviction, it is important to understand your rights and seek legal assistance if necessary.
